KS4 Design and Technology

GCSE Design and Technology (AQA)

This course has three key elements. In Y10 (from September until the end of May) students gain further foundational skills and knowledge as outlined in phase 1 of the course below. In phase 2 of the course between June of Y10 and February of Y11 students complete the controlled assessment coursework design and make assignment. Phase 3 then runs from March of Y11 until May where students prepare for and then sit the final external exam.

In Year 10, students will study the following topics:

  • Core and Specialist Technical Principles
  • Non-examination Assessment - Identifying and Investigating Design Possibilities
