EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Extracurricular activities exist to provide educational experiences. not otherwise provided to our students in academic courses. They boost young people's social confidence; extend their social networks; and provide them with new skills and abilities. Above all, they offer an important space to have fun and relax away from the pressures of school work.
Meden School is dedicated to offering our students a variety of extra-curricular activities that appeal to our students varying needs and wants. Though not compulsory, we would encourage all of our students to participate in at least one activity.
By getting involved in activities beyond the classroom, students are also supporting their studies. It is those students, who are most involved in the extra-curricular programme, who achieve the most from their studies. Recent research has shown that in schools that offer extra-curricular activities, pupils’ GCSE results (and especially in the case of boys) could be raised by as much as 66%. It is certainly our experience that students who are heavily engaged in the extra-curricular life of the school, do well academically and tend to be happier well-adjusted people.
Extra-Curriculur session take place predominantly on Mondays and Tuesdays afterschool. The school show participants will rehearse on additional evenings. More specific information will be sent to those students taking part.
Here is a guide to the activities available. This has been shared with students during assemblies.
Students in Y11 who have been assigned to an Intervention Session on a Monday or Tuesday, must attend that as a priority.

This means there are regular opportunities to be scouted and recommended to professional clubs as they have access to scouts from a variety of clubs. https://efdsportandeducation.co.uk/
If for any reason a club is not able to go ahead we will email where we can. Students are welcome to join another group for that week.
