Amazing Y12 students
A group of our amazing year 12 students recently completed the Scholars Programme, an academic programme run by The Brilliant Club. The Scholars Programme provided the students an experience of university learning to help them make an informed decision about their future.
Throughout The Scholars Programme the students experience small group university-style tutorials delivered by a PhD tutor, teaching a supra-curricular topic based on their current research. Our students researched and compared different social movements. Although university may not be for everyone, this excellent programme gives participants invaluable experiences which help towards becoming successful applicants to some of the UK’s most selective universities in the future.
Funding for participation in this programme was provided by Dancop, who work in partnership with universities and colleges from across two counties (Derbyshire Nottinghamshire) to raise the aspirations of young people and support them to consider their futures. Their funding is vital to schools in our area as it allows our pupils to get involved in activities they would never ordinarily be able to.
The students who took part in the programme were
- Adam Sills
- Adam Guy
- Eve Collis
- Amy Johnson
- Hattie Jones
- Sophie Booth
- Jasmin Reders
- Callum Watson
All students worked incredibly hard despite the challenges brought about by COVID-19. They completed the programme with amazing results;all students achieving either a 2:1 or a first classifcation.
Mr McCartney who co-oedinated the programme in school said " They did amazingly well and represented Meden in a very mature and responsible way."
Well done all of you. You should be immensely proud of yourselves! We are very proud of you all!
