KS4 Core PE
Core PE
In KS4, the role of PE will shift to promoting lifelong participation. From KS3, students will have the knowledge of the rules, techniques and tactics to be successful at a range of sports and will now look to create a love of sport and physical activity that they will take into adult life.
Students will understand how sport can contribute to their physical, mental and social health and wellbeing and the importance of staying active after they leave school
Students will develop their understanding of the sport further through involvement in extra-curricular clubs, sporting fixtures and links to local clubs (Mansfield Rugby Club, Mansfield Town FC, Welbeck FC, Meden Vale Rugby, Mansfield Giants, Welbeck Cricket Club, Mansfield Harriers and AC)
Students will also develop an understanding of the sporting values that can be promoted through PE and how they contribute to a growth mind-set and outstanding ATL. They will look at how resilience, determination and motivation are important skills to succeed in life and how they can be developed in sport.
Develop ambition through opportunities to engage in a supportive careers education so they can make informed decisions about their future in a sporting career (CNAT Sport Studies, GCSE PE, A Level PE, University Progression)
