Life at Meden College

So... what is it like at Meden College?

A a new student it is always a little daunting coming in to the hub for the first time, so lets show you the key areas.

STUDY HUB

  • For silent independent study
  • Opportunity to research, do homework, coursework or read around your subject.
  • Assemblies & group sessions are held here
  • Light airy space with plenty of room
  • MOBILE PHONES are banned here during study time
  • Grab a drink from the kitchen & settle for essential study time.
  • One of the biggest regret our students have when they finish their course is they did not make full use of study
    periods!!

CONSERVATORY

  • Break out area when you are not studying.
  • Can be used if you need to make a phone call /use mobile briefly
  • Noise must be kept at a minimum so as not to disturb others
  • Can get quite hot in summer and cold in winter
  • Kitchen/Microwave/kettle/fridge/water cooler are situated in this area - bring your own drinks & milk etc.
  • All pots must be washed afterwards and this area cleaned after use.

LOCKERS

A limited amount of lockers are available for a refundable deposit of £10 paid via SQUID.

If you want a locker, please pay your deposit anfd then email Mrs Coulson tcoulson@medenschool.co.uk who will supply a key. Once you return your key, your deposit is returned. If your key is lost then the deposit is used to replace it.

Outside the Seminar room Conservatory Area

MRS SMITH'S OFFICE

Mrs Smith (Head of College) has an office that is situated in the Study Hub. If you would like to speak to here, knock politely to speak to her.

Next to Mrs Smith's Office is the Seminar room. You may have lessons or small group sessions in here. If you would like to work in a group and this is free then please speak to Mrs Smith who may allow you to work in there.

OTHER AREAS

Toilets - College students have great toilets situated in the College hub. They are for your use only! Very Important I'm told!

The Ladies The Gents

We also have a non gender disabled toilet if anyone needs to use it.

Vending Machines

Drinks and snacks available - pay by cash or card!

Important forms

If you are going to be absent during the school day you much complete a yellow Leave of Absence form and get it signed by staff before giving to Mrs Smith and then Attendance (Blue stairs)

Bursary forms are also kept here or available on line.
