Exclusions arrangementsWe reserve the right to use exclusion from school on either a fixed-term or permanent basis. Decisions to apply this sanction rest with the Executive Headteacher and Head of School. Exclusion is a serious sanction and must be reasonable and proportionate. Careful consideration must be given to the nature of the incident and full account taken of the student’s age, any special educational needs or disability they may have and any religious requirements affecting them. The indicative sanctions table indicates the type of incident that might warrant exclusion, but the list within the table is not exhaustive. Reintegration meetings should always follow a period of fixed term-exclusion.

The school's approach to the curriculumOur curriculum follows National Curriculum guidelines and aims to provide a broad, balanced learning experience for all.

GCSE QualificationsThere is a three-year programme for Key Stage 4. All students study a core consisting of English, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education and Personal/Social/Health Education. All students must study at least one subject from; French, History or Geography. This is supplemented by a wide range of optional subjects, including Performing Arts, Technology and ICT.

How we meet the 16-19 study programme requirements In addition to formal lessons students take part in the following:
mentoring sessions, enrichment sessions, skills workshops to help with CV writing, UCAS applications, job or apprenticeship applications and work experience, me@meden, healthy lifestyle workshops and Growth Mindset sessions.
Students are also expected to play a wider role in Meden School by the support they give to the younger members of the school as part of schemes such as Buddy reading. All Year 12 students are expected to complete work experience in year 12 as part of our work to support them post Meden College.

Anti-bullying policyThe aim of our anti-bullying policy is to clarify for students and staff that bullying is always unacceptable.
