Meden College celebrating another year of excellent A level results
Meden College in Market Warsop is celebrating another year of excellent A level results. For the 3rd year in succession the college achieved a 100% pass rate with 70% of students gaining an A* to C. Students achieving an A* or A grade increased from 5% to 10%.
In the recent Ofsted inspection, teaching at Meden College was described as 'good' with 'Year 13 outcomes well above average'. This summers results reinforce the very high academic standards students achieve at Meden College.
At AS Level Meden college recorded its best ever results. Meden's 94% pass rate was well above the national average of 88% and 70% of students gained an A* to C.
Damien Belshaw, Head of College commented:
"This has been another outstanding set of results for Meden College students who have proved once again that hard work does equal success. As Head of College, I would like to pass my congratulations on to all of the students who received their results today and wish them the best of luck as they continue their studies."
Student A Level interviews:
Kai Williams: ABB (So Py Bi)
Liverpool University to do Psychology
Kai chose to go to Liverpool University after visiting several others. He knew as soon as he visited the place that it was the right University for him.
He is looking forward to going to University as he wants to experience other locations and is keen to leave his home town of Warsop behind him. He is not sure exactly what career he wants to pursue but he has always had a love of Psychology which is why he has chosen to study it further.
I asked Kai what he felt had been the key to him achieving the grades he has and he said he had worked really hard but the fact that he had completed all of the available past papers had been a major contributing factor. The biggest challenge for him had been to continually work hard and complete all his work.
When asked what advice he would give to any student starting their A Levels it would be to work hard and complete all past papers available.
Kai is heading off to Liverpool to start Freshers week on 16th September.
Joe Day: AAB (Ch Ma Ph)
University of Nottingham to study Pharmacy ( 4yr course with a 1 year Integration course)
Joe chose the University of Nottingham because of the quality of the course after attending interviews at Kings College, Birmingham and 2 others.
Joe wants to pursue a career in Pharmacy after completing his course because he is keen to develop a career for himself and to earn lots of money!
Joe feels his key to achieving such good results is the amount of revision he did. He revised long and hard and also began revision quite early. He also managed to achieve a good balance of work and leisure time and he feels this is very important for all students to do during their studies as is important to relax.
Joe's advice to any body studying A Level courses would be to work hard from day 1 and complete lots of past papers and sample questions but also to make sure you find time to relax.
